National College Bank, New Haven, CT, 11/15/1874. Eagle at center, farm maid left, man with wheat shocks right, light green tint, ornate dark green back. We are pleased to have a great selection of these interesting and historic notes to offer. The proliferation of businesses in the mid 1800s created a need for students educated in business operations to run the offices and finances of these companies. Those institutions used this currency to train their students and that currency is quite beautiful and interesting. It fits in well with Obsolete bank notes as their designs were often copied and they do mimic the Obsolete and Federal issues in circulation at that time. This is a rather obscure area that should attract interest from the many collectors who will appreciate the history behind these neat items. Widely collected by Herb and Martha Schingoethe, who wrote THE reference book on these notes, these are generally quite scarce and desirable and just screaming for further research. This beautiful note is well engraved with excellent vignettes and plenty of eye appeal. It has light folds and bold colors and offers great eye appeal.
